The support for run-time monitoring and reaction that will be developed in this activity will incorporate three main capabilities in the form of services (as part of the SERENITY framework):
- 1. the monitoring of the effectiveness of S&D solutions in satisfying S&D requirements and assumptions of S&D patterns and integration schemes at run-time,
- 2. the diagnosis of the reasons underpinning the violations of such requirements and assumptions at run-time,
- 3. the generation of reaction measures against identified breaches and threats (e.g. when evidence of password reveals are detected at run-time the relevant user accounts may automatically be suspended)..
Support for run-time monitoring is aimed at guarantying that S&D solutions satisfy the S&D requirements underpinning them during the operations of a system. Run-time monitoring is important as a measure against context assumptions of S&D solutions which are made during the specification and development of these solutions but are violated at run-time.
The results of WP4.3, WP4.4, WP4.5 and WP4.6 will be integrated in a dynamic validation platform that will be made available to the project.
