- 1. to use the SERENITY framework to provide security solutions for current scenarios of industrial interest covering a broad spectrum of domains and supporting their evolution
- 2. to provide real life cases for the validation and delivery of the project results, through the conception and development of secure system landscapes within and across the chosen domains, including eBusiness, eGovernment, Smart Items, Communications and Air Traffic Management.
Scenarios shall be developed to adhere to real-world situations, and to address outstanding industrial problems and needs related to their application domain.
The selected scenarios will serve as a means to test and validate theresults of the project in all aspects: the use of enhanced patterns andintegration schemes on several veils of abstraction to provide securitysolutions in open and heterogeneous system landscapes and informationinfrastructures, the feasibility and applicability of the SERENITYframework in heterogeneous environments, and the support of evolvingsecure systems and environments through the framework.
The scenario domains are:
- Smart Items: Utilisation of sensor networks in advanced business scenarios including maintenance and logistics;
- Communications: heterogeneous, dynamic communication networks supporting nomadic user scenarios, ad hoc connectivity and high mobility with dynamic QoS and payment models;
- eBusiness and Legal Compliance: Supporting the provision of business systems subject to auditing and reporting regulations and comprising of components not exclusively under the control of the business owner;
- eGovernment: Involving citizens in administrative and authoritative processes in a comprehensive way;
- Air Traffic Management: characterised by the need for a very high level of safety and by severe requirements in terms of security and dependability.
