- To provide a continuous “System Engineering for Security and dependability market and competitor observation and exploitation alert”;
- Establish a focal point for the European Security community, including researchers and leading-edge industrials to track the important developments in the Security and Dynamic and Ubiquitous Engineering area and to keep the community informed of up-to-date developments of SERENITY
- To prepare a sound and realistic business plan aiming at the commercial exploitation of the SERENITY project’s results in a pan- European scale. In order to achieve this, the consortium will define different business models for the exploitation of the products developed, analysing the viability and profitability of each model, and including the expected impact of the introduction of SERENITY results in different environments.
- To identify exploitation opportunities, including appropriate IPR protection, patent creation, open source software production and other licensing opportunities.
- To contribute to the appropriate standards bodies in the field through related standardization processes in Europe and worldwide.
The market assessments will be based on the standard adoption cycle of new technology and will heavily rely on interviews with experts. It will be important to establish an ongoing and continuous feedback cycle between Focus and Integrated activities and the results of the market assessments.
This will be achieved by providing a better understanding of potential users of Secure and Dependable Systems, the factors behind business considerations (which influence adoption decisions at least as much as technological considerations) and the evolvement of competing technologies that offer similar value propositions. The Exploitation plan will be built on the results of the System Engineering for Security and Dependability and Exploitation Alert, so it will be possible to identify those results which are most suitable for exploitation.
The partners agree to respect their individual Intellectual Property Rights. In general, the consortium will seek to maximize the protection of the intellectual property and other results generated by SERENITY for individual, joint and European advantage. The partners will carefully consider the appropriate vehicle for protection of intellectual property rights on a case-by-case basis. The inventing partner or partners will bring to the attention of the Project Management Board for consideration every intention to protect (or share) the intellectual property generated during the course of the Project.
