AEGEAN is responsible for the A2 Workflow and Services Activity and will play a major role in the Serenity Supporting Environment Activity. Its primary role in the project will be the design of security solutions at the workflow abstraction level, which is one of the main tasks within the Workflow and Services activity. AEGEAN will also analyse the application scenarios, identify the security requirements, develop and validate the corresponding solutions and contribute to the design of the Serenity Supporting Environment (A6) with an emphasis on the design of the library of security and dependability patterns and the development of specification languages and tools.
The University of the Aegean is one of the major providers of IC&T consulting services in Greece. It collaborates closely with software development companies, government organisations, telecommunication companies and other private enterprises. Its participation in Serenity will strengthen its position and will allow it to provide novel security solutions in the area of Ambient Intelligence and Pervasive Computing.
The University of the Aegean also focuses on academic exploitation. Research results will be disseminated through security research workshops and conferences, so as to allow for the scientific community to elaborate upon SERENITY research results. Finally, AEGEAN expects to further strengthen its leading role in the provision of IC&T Security education. AEGEAN offers the unique IC&T Security MSc programme in Greece and has more than 20 PhD students working in this area.
