This workpackage will review recent and on-going work that is relevant to S&D monitoring and recovery and evaluate their applicability in the SERENITY framework. The review will consider strands of research and approaches that have been developed for general purpose requirements monitoring, monitoring the correctness of program execution and building special purpose security monitors. It will also review emerging standards for specifying monitorable security and dependability properties at all the three different layers identified by SERENITY (e.g. WS-Security (Atkinson et al 2002), WSLA (Ludwig et al 2003), WS-Agreement (Andrieux et al 2004)).
